Flapper

The serpent twisted his way through the polka dot wall.
Listening for something his friends said would never call.

It was love he searched for, and nothing less.
For this his friends taunted him, and claimed him a pest.

But this didn't stop the serpent, so on he went.
Dreaming of love, never questioning what it meant.

He dreamed of a pink scaled temptress with eyes of red.
A serpent he could cuddle with as they feed on the dead.

A serpent to gaze at the stars with, and share bedtime stories by Edgar Allan Poe.
A serpent to baby talk with, as long as the rest of the world doesn't know.

A serpent to watch movies with. But only if the imdb rating is high.
A serpent to cherish forever, and love until the day they die.

The serpent twisted his way through the polka dot wall.
Stopping only when he could see what he had never saw.

A dark haired woman, with eyes of blue.
Clutching her scared pet, which clearly belonged in a zoo.

He was instantly smitten, what a wonderful sight.
His heart rapidly pounded. He had never felt so right.

But this love could not last. Timing was their foe.
The flapper had just become a wife. To a distinguished plumber named Joe.

This saddened the serpent, he never thought of the heartbreak love could pose.
So he left the woman forever, leaving just a red rose.

The serpent twisted his way through the polka dot wall. Back, he dare not look.
And to settle himself, he thought, "She's probably a shitty cook".
